Interest in the local football team continues to grow, especially considering this season they will compete in the famous Spanish completion. The Kings Cup!
Club Deportivo Estepona Fútbol Senior, commonly known as CD Estepona, was founded in 2014 after the dissolution of Unión Estepona CF, quickly rose through the ranks, earning a spot in the Tercera División by 2020. Despite facing relegation, Estepona bounced back, achieving promotion to the Segunda Federación in 2022. This return to form has revitalised local pride in Estepona’s footballing tradition.
CD Estepona’s next upcoming fixture in this competition is against another local team, albeit somewhat larger and with a fan base to match in comparison to Estepona CF. None other than Malaga CF!
As a local community team Estepona CF always welcomes with open arms new fans. With a family feel running through the club match days are thoroughly enjoyed by all ages.
As part of this season’s inclusion in the Kings Cup the club has managed to secure a replacement pitch, organized in conjunction with the local Estepona Council.
This work is currently being carried out and once completed the team can return to play at their home stadium.
